This is probably just a theory but maybe mark and ethan died on nov 12 the day the channel was made and after dying they met unus and annus who promised to bring them back to life but under one condition after the year is up mark and ethan must die and unus and annus transfer into their bodies housing them they also give mark and ethan the ability to come back to life. It began with a timer popping up on the screen counting down from 365 days along with voices chanting unus annus in the background.
