Megan is missing is fairly tame for the first two acts of the movie but starts to very slowly burn out like a dying candle. She struggles with drug use sexual trauma and general family dysfunction. The themes become darker and darker and our sense of dread and foreboding builds with every interaction that is had it is almost feels frustrating to watch as we want to save these girls from a destiny that already looks destitute and hopeless for them.
